Money Tree (Pachira Aquatica) is native to Central and South America, it is known by the common names like Money Tree, Malabar Chestnut, French Peanut, Guiana Chestnut, Provision tree, Saba Nut, Monguba, Pumpo etc. It is one of the most favorite houseplants not only because of its adaptability to diverse weather conditions but story of its origin too, a poor farmer from Taiwan prayed for money and found this “odd” plant on his his way to home, he took it as an omen and made money by selling plants grown from its seeds, soon after he became very rich by trading its plants. There is another story, in the year 1986, a truck driver from Taiwan planted five small plants, with braided trunks, in a flowerpot. Thereafter, its popularity spread across Japan and eastern parts of Asia. It is believed that it brings good fortune, in terms of money. That is why, it is often found in and around the premises of companies or businesses along with little other ornamentation.
